ThreeBond 1521 high-performance multi-purpose neoprene-based adhesive (universal adhesive)

Product Overview

ThreeBond 1521 (ThreeBond 1521) is a high-performance multi-purpose strong contact adhesive (universal adhesive) mainly composed of chloroprene synthetic rubber and phenolic resin.. The product is a slightly brownish amber viscous liquid with excellent initial bonding force and long-lasting bonding strength.

This adhesive exhibits extremely high adhesion and shear resistance to various materials such as metal, rubber, engineering plastics, wood, and leather. It has flexible construction methods and is widely used in industrial assembly, vehicle manufacturing, interior lamination, and general machinery manufacturing for strong mutual adhesion of multiple materials.

Core advantages and features

  • Multi-material high-strength bonding:For iron, aluminum, brass and other metals, PVC, PC, phenolic resin and other plastics, SBR, NBR, neoprene and other synthetic rubbers, as well as wood, cloth, leather, ceramics, with excellent universal bonding effect

  • Contact type has strong initial adhesion:After the solvent evaporates and dries, an adhesive layer is formed. The drying time is about 9 minutes (25℃, 80% RH)., it can be quickly positioned by applying pressure

  • Excellent shear and peel resistance:After curing, a strong elastic adhesive layer is formed, and the PC/PC shear strength can reach 1.76 MPa., the steel and tent cloth peeling strength reaches 3.10 kN/m

  • There are various construction operations:Moderate viscosity (2,800 mPa·s), supports brushing, scraper coating, roller coating or special spray gun spraying operations

  • Stable weather resistance and anti-aging properties:The bonding strength increases steadily with the passage of curing time, and has excellent anti-vibration and fatigue resistance properties after full curing.

Typical application scenarios

  1. Vehicle and marine interior manufacturing:Bonding and bonding of roof cloth, door panel leather, carpet, rubber sealing strips and body steel plates

  2. Industrial assembly and nameplate bonding:Firm bonding of metal signs, mechanical shell rubber gaskets, vibration-absorbing gaskets, and plastic trim strips

  3. Furniture and carpentry construction:High-strength composite of wood veneer panels, fireproof boards, decorative surface materials, artificial panels, and concrete base materials

  4. Luggage, shoe materials and fabric processing:Strong bonding of leather, canvas, rubber soles and special fabrics

Usage methods and construction techniques

  1. Thorough surface cleaning:Remove moisture, oil, rust, release agent and oxide layer from the surface of the substrate. After the metal is polished smooth, it can be degreased with a solvent.; Rubber and molded plastic parts need to be polished to remove surface oil and release agent

  2. Recommended amount of glue:Porous absorbent material approximately 25~30 g/cm²;Dense non-porous material about 20~25 g/cm²(For porous materials such as canvas, it is recommended to wait for the first layer to be nearly dry and repeat the coating 2 to 3 times)

  3. Drying and pressing:

    • Room temperature bonding:Apply glue evenly on both sides and let it sit at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes (until the solvent has fully evaporated and it is slightly sticky and not stringy when touched by your fingers), quickly align the joint surface and apply uniform pressure for compaction

    • Full cure cycle:The absorbent substrate is ready for use in approximately 12 hours, metal and other dense materials are recommended to be cured for more than 24 hours to achieve optimal bonding strength.

  4. Dilution and mixing:If sedimentation and stratification occur after storage, it is a normal physical phenomenon. Stir evenly and it can be restored to its original state for use.; If necessary, it can be prepared with special diluent

  5. Safety and storage:This product contains flammable and volatile solvents and is strictly prohibited to be used near fire sources., keep the environment well ventilated; Seal and store in a cool, dark place at 5 ~ 35°C. The ambient temperature should not exceed 50°C.
